Machining Apprentice Hayley Potter moving to the Quality Department.

Hayley started her apprenticeship, straight out of school, during which time she has been concentrating on the more traditional aspects of an engineering apprenticeship.  She has excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach and so Scott Murphy, our Quality Manager, considered she was the perfect candidate to move the remaining year of her apprenticeship to the Quality Department. She has already begun to make key improvements, such as creating a new tooling database and other procedures, and for Ritchie Precision this means that she is gaining valuable onsite and offsite training that can only enhance her capabilities.

Hayley says “since transitioning from machining into the quality department, I find I have been enjoying learning, and understanding more and more about quality management and why it is essential within our business. The added responsibility has been challenging but has made the change all the more enjoyable.  I am very grateful for the opportunity to progress within the company so early in my career and with the guidance of our quality manager, Scott, I am happy with the progress I have made and I am looking forward to my future at Ritchie Precision.”

Hayley’s study during her apprenticeship has been with West Lothian College, Livingston.
